On Saturday, 7th of May 2022, the3rd Steering Committee Meetingwas organized by the Lead Beneficiary, University of Ioannina and held in the premises of the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina , with the onsite and online presence of all Project Partners in Arta. The following issues were discussed during this meeting:
Overview of the Project
Each partner’s progress that has been made from the beginning of the Project so far
Each partner’s methodology followed in order to implement the deliverables of the project
Presentation of the Statements of Significance of the ten heritage geolocations in the Regional Unit of Arta.
The project manager of LB-UoI was in charge provided support and guidance to all the partners about different issues that arose. Also, he confirmed that all the partners align with the overall policies of the project and the project team stays on schedule as the timeline is maintained. Finally, the project management team updated a) tasks & scheduled status, b) budget status, c) current or anticipated issues (e.g., changes, risks, resource issues, etc.), and d) scheduled the next project meeting.
Press Trip Tour in Gjirokastra
On April 11th, 2022, RCDC (Regional Center for Development and Cooperation) organized a press trip to 10 selected geolocations of Gjirokastra suburbs. This dedicated event was designed for journalists, media representatives, bloggers, and influencers aiming to improve the promotion of the tourism offer of Gjirokastra region. The participants embraced the opportunity to discover these geolocations. Media representatives from across the country demonstrated a lot of interest in getting to know Gjirokastra through unique sites, monuments, and areas they were led to following an off-the-beaten-path program carefully designed by local tourism operators. Telling the places and stories amidst a rich display of local arts and culture was the main feature of this unique project, while meetings with locals and businesses sparked discussion about issues related to domestic tourism development for sparsely populated areas and the role of the media. The attendees received a promotional and information kit. They showed interest in taking further steps for the promotion of the initiative in the media. Top Albania Channel, RTSH Gjirokastra, Sarandanews were among the media involved in this activity. Ten specially designed invitations, each for one geolocation were intensively delivered through RCDC & project media serving at the same time as teasers for the respective stories written.
Info Day in Arta
On Wednesday, 28th of September 2022, the SMARTiMONY projectorganized an Info Day in the context of the 8th National Exhibition of Arta. The LB invited public authorities, actors from the Tourism sector, Cultural & Creative Industries, and other people who are interested inthe cultural, Creative & Cultural Industries (CCI) and the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museum (GLAM) sector and provided them a great opportunity to come into direct contact with the Project Partners at a local level and be informed about project contents and activities. The team of LB-UoI showcased some of the most interesting and innovative digital products that have been developed during the implementation of the Project, most notably the SMARTiMONY Itinerary with the 10 Statements of Significance for the region of Arta& theSMARTiMONY Experiential Heritage Corridor which includes:

Successful Exhibition Participation
Beyond 2022-«Get Future Ready»
The SMARTiMONY project participated in the 2nd International Exhibition of Innovation and Technology, Beyond-«Get Future Ready»,which took place at Thessaloniki’s International Exhibition Center from September 29th to October 1st, 2022. One of the main topics presented at the exhibition conference was the field of artificial intelligence since the companies that manage to integrate it into their production process will acquire the competitive advantages of the future, as well as innovation. The SMARTiMONY project booth captured the attention of visitors from 30 countries and the representatives of the partners presented to the public all the innovative products of the SMARTiMONYproject.
Philoxenia 2022
Philoxenia is the annual tourism exhibition that since 1985, from its first organization till today, outlines the profile of the tourism business in the country maintaining its strong brand name through the years. The exhibition opened at Thessaloniki’s International Exhibition Center with 335 exhibitors, 115 hosted buyers from 35 countries. As one of the exhibitors, the SMARTiMONYproject participated from 18th to 20th November 2022 at the 37th International Tourism Exhibition Philoxenia 2022where the Project objectives and outputs were communicated to the participants and visitors.
Vakantiebeurs 2023
The representatives of the SMARTiMONY Project participated in the international tourism exhibition, Vakantiebeurs, in Utrecht, Holland which opened its doors on Thursday, January 12, 2023, and ended on Sunday, January 15, 2023.In the framework of the exhibition, the SMARTiMONY Project was featured with a stand as part of the event and the Project partners provided information about the Project activities and outcomes to visitors, representatives from other nations, and tourism organizations.Many visitors showed a special interest in the SMARTiMONY stand as the team presented some of the most interesting and innovative digital products that have been developed during the implementation of the Project, most notably the SMARTiMONY Itinerary with the 40 statements of Significance & the SMARTiMONY Experiential Heritage Corridor which includes: 1) an AV Multivision Production, 2) Heritage Games, and 3) iBook.
